ADDING ART TO DEFINE SPACE AND CREATE A FEELING OF JOY, WELCOMENESS, AND HOPE
5 POINTS ALLEY MURAL BY IMAGINE 876
In our continued effort to add vibrancy and establish 5 Points Alley as a lasting creative, community gathering space for Walnut Hills, Cincy Nice commissioned Nepalese artist Imagine 876 to create a large scale mural on the back exterior of the The Dillard Center building.
Since late 2020, Cincy Nice has partnered with the Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation to manage and program Five Points Alley as a community gathering space.
The mural design was inspired by building owner Dr. Dillard’s community work (learn more with his recent recognition as a Great Living Cincinnatian by the Cincinnati USA Chamber) and Cincy Nice’s mission to share more joy and celebrating cultural heritage. The mural letters in the sun share the mantra of “still smiling”, a reminder of our inner strength and innate joy.
The new mural was designed to serve as the backdrop to the 5 Points Alley stage and was commissioned ahead of the inaugural Still Smiling Fest to take place on May 20-21, 2022 in the community courtyard space. The two-night music and art event featured grammy-award winning artist Mya and Cincinnati-native Sudan Archives, local musicians and muralists and visual artists.
Made possible thanks to the generous support and partnership of:
Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Gomez Salsa, AGAR (production support and artist coordination), Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation, and the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr. Foundation
